The Rise of Asian Influences in Fashion
A thought that resonates with identity
This topic is based on the rise of Asian influences within fashion. From small details with historical significance, such as the tabi shoe, to full influences such as the cheongsam collar, there has been a noticeable rise in these influences within fashion. Which most likely stems from the consumption of Asian media.
While many forms of Asian media have been consumed over the years, there are notable influences from Japan due to anime, manga, and idol culture.
There are also notable influences from Korea, from K-drama and K-pop.
Growing up Asian with Fashion
It All Begins Here
Growing up, I have always been interested in fashion, from wanting to model to wanting to be a designer, to now wanting to market and merchandise. There have been steps
Growing up, there were many pressures to follow the American Dream. Follow the path to a successful career through good grades, discipline, and well paying career (medical, law, engineering, computer science). However, there was rarely ever room for business or art because there is a lack of guarantee of success for those careers, according to the Asian American culture.
The Glorification of Asian Culture
It All Begins Here
Ironic, coming from me, who creates events for K-Pop idols for fans who love them; however, it does not mean there are no stragglers among those who romanticize it. Asian culture as a whole has been romanticized and gentrified to the point where when people think of Asian people, they think of pale, pretty Asian women with clear skin, or they think of K-pop idol men. Either this or they think of the generic stereotypical nerdy geeks who are smart and good at everything. Which is inherently not a bad thing, but it was something we got made fun of for a long time.
Additionally, there was also the era of 2020, where there were many hate crimes going on due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since many people of color
Make Room for Growth
It All Begins Here
Confidence doesn’t always arrive with a bold entrance. Sometimes, it builds quietly, step by step, as we show up for ourselves day after day. It grows when we choose to try, even when we’re unsure of the outcome. Every time you take action despite self-doubt, you reinforce the belief that you’re capable. Confidence isn’t about having all the answers — it’s about trusting that you can figure it out along the way.
The key to making things happen isn’t waiting for the perfect moment; it’s starting with what you have, where you are. Big goals can feel overwhelming when viewed all at once, but momentum builds through small, consistent action. Whether you’re working toward a personal milestone or a professional dream, progress comes from showing up — not perfectly, but persistently. Action creates clarity, and over time, those steps forward add up to something real.
You don’t need to be fearless to reach your goals, you just need to be willing. Willing to try, willing to learn, and willing to believe that you’re capable of more than you know. The road may not always be smooth, but growth rarely is. What matters most is that you keep going, keep learning, and keep believing in the version of yourself you’re becoming.
