My Dance Journey
I have been a self-taught dancer since 2018, when I got into K-Pop. This journey has brought me self-confidence, self-love, progress, and growth. It has given me lifelong connections that have shaped me into who I am now; it has become part of my identity.
Starting in 2019, I joined a K-Pop dance team in my high school, which gave me my first dance teacher and my first couple of friends. I found my own community in a place that originally made me feel ashamed for enjoying K-Pop. It led me to start wanting to dance for myself more, and led me to become more active.
My high school team
I originally wrote my college essay on how my high school team taught me how to lead and how it has brought me respect for community and teamwork. This high school team helped me truly understand communication and teamwork, and how it matters in real scenarios.
Continuing in college, I auditioned for another team, Le Velvet. This was the team that truly gave me the world. This team gave me my first college friends and made me truly more confident. This felt like my first college stepping stone. When I originally joined Le Velvet, I auditioned for a recreational team, not being fully confident in my performance skills; however, they saw my potential even though I hadn’t. I got onto the performance team and learned much more about confidence and resilience.

These connections have made me become a better version of myself, as they push me to do my best. They continue to help me in my own personal career journey as well. They have inspired me to continue doing the things I enjoy and to prosper in everything I do. They continuously support me, and it has brought me much joy.
