Geothermal Energy: Poland’s Problem

Identify a country with a problem using PESTS, and develop or adapt a product for that country and market it.

Poland’s Problem

Our task was to choose a country that seemed to be struggling in Europe. We selected this through our individual projects on our own select countries within Europe. Poland is the most notable one, where they are considered the 3rd most polluted country on the continent.

Geothermal Energy

1

Due to the amount of pollution Poland produces due to their HVAC systems and mass amounts of coal usage, there needed to be a solution to their problem. This is where we thought about renewable energy, and how it may be able to offset the pollution.

Market Opportunities

2

Due to the increased amount of pollution in Poland, we thought about the people who would benefit the most from a geothermal energy system. This would mainly consist of homeowners in high-income areas looking for cleaner options, primarily marketing through social media, magazines, and radio.

Market Stance

3

Our market stance is directed towards homeowners, rather than larger cities. This is due to the government at the time starting to implement more renewable energy sources throughout the country. Our competition would be those who built geothermal plants within cities and not homes. An increase in pollution pushes towards cleaner heating.

My Role

4

My role for this project consisted of designing the slide deck, making the SWOT analysis, and the introduction and market opportunity. Our slide deck got points for great slide design, and I also made sure everything looked good throughout our presentation.

Outcome

We created an international marketing strategy for geothermal technology within the United States. Through this project, I gained new perspectives, more knowledge, and an application of the information we learned during class. Additionally, this was presented during a career fair of sorts, where we presented to other students and peers.
